Stretching from the foothills of scenic Mount Diablo across the valley to the Las Trampas Ridge, Danville is an affluent community with a distinct country feeling. Visitors to this small town find quiet neighborhoods with manicured lawns and winding streets interspersed with parks and playgrounds.

For over 130 years, Danville’s history has been one of change and growth. Often referred to as the “Heart of the San Ramon Valley,” Danville was first populated by Indians who lived next to the creeks and camped on Mount Diablo in the summer.

Danville is home to the Museum of the San Ramon Valley. Housed in the restored 1891 Southern Pacific Depot on West Prospect and Railroad Avenues, the Museum provides a unique tribute to the rich history of California’s San Ramon Valley.

The small town atmosphere of Danville is apparent by the numerous family activities that are offered.  These include Art and Wine Festivals, Street Fairs, Summer Music in the Park and The Old Fashioned Fourth of July Parade and Chili Cook Off to just name a few.  Danville is also host to numerous antique shops, bakeries and wonderful restaurants. It prides itself on the local parks, schools and programs available to all ages and walks of life.  Included in the many activities are the Las Trampas Regional Wilderness Area and the 20-mile long paved Iron Horse Trail.

With its median income of over $120,000, many Danville residents live in impressively remodeled ranch style homes or newer homes with high-end finishings.  Most impressive are the multi-acre hilltop retreats with dramatic views of Mount Diablo and the San Ramon Valley.  Single Family Homes range from $500,000 to over $3 million and condominiums are found between $380,000 and $650,000.

Danville’s location on I-680 also offers convenient access to the rest of the East Bay, San Francisco and San Jose.  Danville is about 44 miles East of San Francisco, 35 miles North of San Jose, 7 miles South of Walnut Creek and about one and a half hours Southwest of Sacramento. It is serviced by three major airports: San Francisco International (about 48 miles), San Jose International (about 38 miles) and Oakland International (about 28 miles). Less than ten miles either North or South, rapid transit is available to reach most of the East Bay Cities including Oakland and to the West Bay and San Francisco.
